Once situated at Old Blacksmiths Yard from October 2016 until October 2021, The Palfrey has now relocated to Hopping Hill, Milford.

Now a newly refurbished and contemporary pub & restaurant, where we aim to provide an electric food and drinks offering in a relaxed and friendly environment for our customers.

As a small independent establishment, passion is at the heart of everything we do, and this is showcased through our bespoke wine list, signature cocktails, beer and real ale choices and specially created dishes by our kitchen team using only the best local and seasonal ingredients.

Our industrial and rustic style of decor, which was loved by many at our original restaurant, was at the heart of the renovations to the pub and is incorporated throughout the bar & restaurant area. We hope you all love what we have achieved with the refurbishment, so why not visit us and see for yourself the latest addition to the village of Milford?

Daniel knew he wanted to be a chef from the age of 13 when he first walked into the kitchen! His culinary career began as a Kitchen Porter & when he finished school, he went straight to catering college at New College Nottingham and completed a 3 year diploma! From there his career developed at the Wollaton Pub and Kitchen starting as Commis Chef and within 6 years rising through the ranks to Sous Chef! Daniel likes to play on classic dishes and put his own twist on them, as well as inventing his own dishes and taking inspiration from books to develop his menus! He is a huge fan of local produce and loves working with local suppliers, so he knows he’s getting the best ingredients for his dishes! Daniel began working with us as Senior Sous Chef in October 2018 and has worked his way up to now take on the challenge of working as Head Chef and progress the tasting experience at The Palfrey.

COVID Safety – What We’re Doing

We’re delighted to be back and can’t wait to give you all a warm Palfrey welcome. Things might be a little different for a while, so please bear with us. To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ve had to make some changes to our normal style of service. Due to enhanced strict standards of hygiene, things may take a little longer than usual but please be assured that our usual high level of quality and hospitality will be maintained.

Here’s what to expect and we kindly ask that all our guests are respectful of these policies and to adhere to government advice on social distancing.

  • We’ve carried out a deep clean of The Palfrey and even more thorough cleaning routines will be taking place regularly throughout every day.
  • Due to enhanced cleaning procedures, there will be a 15 minute gap between all tables to allow for a deep clean of the table area after every guest visit.
  • We hugely encourage bookings for bar tables and for tables outside, even if just joining us for drinks, so that we can manage the number of customers at one time. It will also help hugely with providing contact details for Track & Trace.
  • We will be offering table service only in the bar area. We will minimise contact when serving and be taking precautions to safeguard you and our team.
  • Bookings are currently limited to groups of up to 6 guests, in groups of up to two households or support bubbles.
  • We’ve made some changes to the interior layout, including removing tables to allow larger social distancing to be put into practice.
  • Sanitiser stations are located at all entry points for customer use. They are also situated throughout the building and we ask that these facilities are regularly used.
  • We will be asking all reservations to supply us with names and contact numbers for fellow guests for Track & Trace.
  • We will be card payments only.
  • COVID-19 risk assessments have been carried out and all areas have been considered to alleviate transmission. These will be revised accordingly throughout the pandemic.
  • Due to the harmful effect of no-shows we will be taking card details for all bookings but will be relaxing rules on charging for prior cancellations.
  • Disposable menus will be used and cutlery will be brought to your table after being seated.
  • We will be temporarily reducing our opening hours. We will no longer be open on Tuesdays and Saturday and Sunday will be our only lunch services.
  • We will only be offering our a la carte menu upstairs in the restaurant so no set priced menu for the time-being.
  • We will be our continuing our Made at The Palfrey deliveries, Wednesday to Sunday.
